TROOP 55 IS CURRENTLY WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS!
Troop 55 has proudly served the Somers Point area for more than 50 years, but our Scouts come from areas far and wide. Current Scouts reside in Somers Point, Northfield, Ocean City, Egg harbor Township, Hammonton, Egg Harbor City and more. All are welcome.
Our program is built on the foundations of the Scout Oath and Scout Law, emphasizing personal growth, teamwork, outdoor skills, and service.
We are chartered by Christ Episcopal Church in Somers Point, N.J.
We welcome youth ages 11–17 who are ready to learn, lead, explore, and have fun in the outdoors. No prior scouting experience is necessary.
Youth Leadership
Troop 55 is a youth-led troop. That means Scouts plan meetings, organize outings, and run activities. Adults serve as mentors and safety guides, but the Scouts take the lead.
This approach helps our young to:
Develop leadership and communication skills
Learn responsibility and follow-through
Gain confidence through real decision-making
Understand teamwork and service to others
Every Scout has opportunities to lead — from patrol roles to serving as Senior Patrol Leader.
