Scouting America, formerly Boy Scouts of America, is a youth program focused on leadership training and character development. 

Our local Scouting America organization is the Jersey Shore Council.

annual and one-time expenses, resources are available to make the program affordable. 

Yes! Scouting works well alongside school and sports commitments. While consistent participation is important, the program is flexible, and Scouts can balance multiple interests. Our Scouts are involved in all sports, band, theater, volunteer activities and more.

Parents are encouraged to support their Scout by helping them stay organized, attending events when possible, and communicating with troop leaders. Troop activities run best when families are engaged, but time commitments are flexible.

No. Camping gear including tents, cooking stoves, lanterns and other equipment is provided by the Troop. Personal gear like blankets, sleeping bags, toiletries, clothing and camping chairs are the responsibility of each Scout. 

The troop typically camps once each month, year-round. Summer camp is a full week in the summer, and older Scouts may participate in additional high adventure trips.

Scouting is not tied to any specific religion or denomination. However, it is a values-based program that encourages Scouts to reflect on their beliefs and to do their “duty to God,” whatever that means within their own family and faith tradition. Scouts are not required to belong to a particular religion, and the troop does not teach doctrine. Families define and guide their own spiritual practice, and all are welcome.
